NOTE:- Paper and ink continue to be a challenge, years ago there were over 90 types of recording ink to choose from. That was in the days when this technology was at its height, sadly to many of us the electronic age has replaced the real machines built of wood brass and glass and so these wonderful old instruments are ever becoming collectors items and obtaining compatable parts and consumables is getting harder in such a specialist field. We are pleased to now offer this ink specially formulated for us in Germany to be more suited to wider range of chart paper (not all types). Our tests so far have been encouraging. As paper choice becomes less in these modern days we suspect ther will be further challenges but we have committed to large stocks of this ink to enable your instruments to be useable for many more years to come - keep winding!

Sunday start chart, paper size 300mm x 174mm high, divided from 28.5 to 31 inches of mercury. Graph size is 61mm tall for the 2.5 inch pressure measurement and 276 mm per 7 days revolution. Perforated charts ungummed for use with a clip. (we sell gummed or non gummed for use with a clip, please select accordingly) Blue printed chart as per original charts by Short and Mason for their tall Micro Barographs on a standard diameter drum. Never that popular so this chart not very common but occassionally these instruments surface from an attic or somewhere remote needing such odd sized charts. Sodl per pack of 100. 100 Thermograph Charts similar to old ref 37. The chart is printed red ink on off white paper. Graph size is 11 1/4 inches by 3inches. Barograph nib, standard - (individually tested)
These are the traditional type of wet ink nibs often used on old barographs. We can not be certain they fit any arm but we use them on practically all old barographs using one pen. If the arm has corroded or is just wider than normal then sometimes a new arm or some alteration to what you have may be needed. Generally a competent person should be able to open the tangs of the nib a little and slide over the arm, the nib is then clasped on using a pair of pliers carefully to close the tangs around the arm. Made from stainless steel so should last many years if not damaged. Length from nib centre to end is 17mm distaace between the 2 clips is 13mm - there were many types made over the years, not much choice these days.

Fibre nib for Barigo Barographs, often will fit traditional barographs but there is no guarantee as pen arms vary in size, it is light weight and lasts quite a while. Most times the arm could be adapted to fit or carefully glued on if necessary. Size of pen is approx 21mm long by 4mm square with protruding angled fibre nib 5mm, the back has a raised dovetail slot approx 8mm long x 2mm tapering to 1.5mm. These are disposable and not intened for use with our ink. They come in a sealed pouch to keep longer so once opened no return possible of course. If uncertain of fit then send us ONE picture of the barograph and an e-mail covering what you are looking for - we might be able to suggest possibilities.

Long reach barograph nib for use with twin recording instruments, normall Baro-Thermomgraph so pens do not foul each other. So if you have two instruments recording on the same chart you may require a short standard nib and a long nib like this set at about 6 or 12 hours difference (what suits the instrument) so they do not hit each other.

Barograph bottle and dipper with brass holder, 5/8" diameter

Brass dipper, cast, old pattern with an unfitted cork
1 3/4" long from under shoulder to tip.
Cork approx 5/16" diameter at small end which suits some bottles.

Barograph bottle, (no dipper) but supplied with undrilled cork, other sizes can be made by our glass blower. - PLEASE measure twice - many people order the wrong size! if you can not measure accurately then find someone that can! We can make coopies of old ones often but please e-mail first for price with information and one picture if available.

Barograph bellows stack, 2 1/4" diameter. Overall height including lugs (not lower thread) approx 2 3/16" but each can vary, top has internal thread. As with other items no guarantee to be the correct movement for any barograph. supplied as made - some may prefer to spray paint the metal.

Old style barograph bellows 2 1/8" to 2 1/4" approximate height plus lugs top and bottom threaded 6BA and 5mm. Height varies, diameter 1 7/8" with side nib evacuation and side soldered not flange type. painted a grey/silver colour may need colouring to suit if used for old barograph repair. Each capsule unscrews, sold in sets of 8 only. As with other items no guarantee to be the correct movement for any barograph although often succesfull for old barograph repairs - but many types were made.

Old style barograph bellows with three capsules overall diameter 2 3/4" top spigot tapering approx 1 1/4" high, bottom spigot 1/4" plain and 3/8"s threaded 1/4 B.S.F.Matt silvered finish, soldered sides with evacuation nib, capsules thread separately together.

Wall Barograph Capsule, Antoine Redier Design, 3 1/4" diameter, central flat area in middle of top, thraded hole in base for fixing, 3/4" tall with internal springing, silvered finish top and bottom with soldered sides and side evacuation nib.

A Richard Freres barograph key, double ended, for clock and altimeter adjustments, cast brass

Barograph chassis including 8 day clockwork drum, brass movement and plated bellows. Each unit made and pressure tested in our workshop. Lacquered brass. Suitable if you want to make your own case. Needs screwing to case, winding and away you go (will require charts ref 1005750 and ink 1002510)

Barograph Kit - The ultimate challenge! all the parts to make the clock and barograph chasis as per our ref 1005520 above. but many parts as made, no instructions. Comes with the Swiss platform escapement, gears and pinions assembled, evacuated bellows stack, numerous screws and brass parts, even ink and charts for when you get it going. This kit is not for the beginner or faint hearted - Whilst we will answer the odd questions we do not offer full helpline assistance for this project. Comes with picture of finished item. Barograph clock lid with knob, fits into 3 5/8" drum, has cut out for gluck style vhart clip, is supplied unfinished so you can clean and polish or grain and finish with lacquer or not to suit your old barograph. Slight surface marks from manufacturing can be expected.

Barograph clock with lid, complete assembly with chart holding spring and spindle mounting ready to screw to case. As used on the Gluck Barographs - can be screwed to wood or metal base. Drum 91mm high plus height of base, 93 mm in diameter. The clock is ready to go, brass work clear lacquered.

Replacement chart clip as used on Gluck barograph clocks.
Made from flat brass strip with champhered edges,7mm wide, will fit drums approx 92mm high. The rounded end slots into the flange on the drum and the 'U' shaped end slots into the cut out in the drum. A small brass rivet aids removal and replacement in the drum. Longer ones can be supplied - please enquire

Hinged Barograph Chart Clip - Components to make to fit drums up to 100mm tall. These fine engineered parts are designed to fit many types of barographs, the hinge is oversized so it can be reduce to suit, undrilled so original screw holes can be used, the knurled turn screw at the top will need fitting once length decided upon, some fitting of the turn screw will be needed according to the thickness of the drum material. The turn catch is designed to rivet together with the round brass spacer taking up the thickness of the drum to allow it to turn. All in all a very good replacement if you have the skills to fit together. Turn catch is 8mm from centre hole to tip, 5mm wide, Dimpled turn catch knorled edge and waisted 8mm diameter4.8mm high protruding, Hinge assembled with steel pin, 16mm wide 10mm deep from centre to edge, Clip 105mm long from centre of hinge, 8mm wide, flat on back, domed front surface except first 10mm from centre of hinge. These copy some of the best found on old barographs.

Barograph replacement blank arm, aluminium, undrilled, length 8"
Gemerally for old barographs but will require drilling to suit.
The ink used on barograph is corrosive and often attacks aluminium, so keeping the end clean prolonges the live of the arm. Latter instrumenst introduced stainless steel arms for obvious reasons but most old barographs used aluminium as light weight, If the arm of your barogrpah has a wide end where the nib fits it may have been shortened over the years and could be in need of a new arm.

Barograph replacement arm, stainless steel, ribbed for strength, these are from Gluck Barographs and have 2 holes at one end which are drilled 5mm centres. the arms we have now also have round tab as part of the arm.
